We are thrilled to announce the kickoff to the Mercyhurst Fashion Crowdfunding project #fashioncollaborative! What is this exciting initiative? One thing we know about our department is that it truly embraces the concept “Hurst is Home!” Therefore, students view our third floor space as a place they feel very comfortable attending classes, working on course projects, as well as socializing with each other and faculty. Our students are busy bees—when they’re not in class, they’re working on group projects, conducting committee work for the Fashion Council, preparing presentations, having group study sessions, and more.
Aside from the traditional classrooms, however, there has not been an ideal location to cultivate true collaboration. We also know that students want to learn, engage, and work in spaces that are “unconventional” classroom settings. Many studies discuss the positive impact on learning within surroundings that are not your typical “chair and desk” modular classroom setup. With that, the vision for a new collaboration space within the department was born. We are embracing these ideas and providing the tools to help our students become successful in and out of the classroom.
Our new #Fashioncollaborative space will have a variety of writable surfaces, modular furniture for flexible arrangements, accessible digital displays, and ample location of outlets to charge and utilize technology. We are excited to offer this space to our students to help them continue to embrace unconventional learning methods.
We need your help to make this happen. Check out our crowdfunding page to get a better idea of the space and how you can help turn this vision into a reality! And don’t forget to follow our social media platforms to get sneak peaks along the way!
