The fashions and films of Cannes

Each year, filmmakers from around the world and of all different genres debut their films at the Cannes International Film Festival held in the South of France. This year celebrated the 70th anniversary of the festival and ran from May 17th to May 28th. The festival is extremely exclusive, by invite only, thus the crowd it draws is A-list celebrities dressed to the nines. Here are a few of my top picks from the star-studded event.

Bella Hadid takes the cake as being best dressed at the festival events this year. Despite having a wardrobe malfunction in this Alexander Vauthier gown, she looks like the epitome of elegance and accessorizes with a gorgeous sapphire necklace.

At the amfAR event in Cannes, she showed up in a bedazzled Ralph & Russo dress that created a lot of media buzz.

Lily Collins is always one of my favorite celebs to see on the red carpet. This was her first time attending the Cannes Film Festival and she wowed in a gorgeous, gauzy Ralph & Russo dress.

Winnie Harlow shines on the red carpet in a voluminous, silky Zuhair Murad gown.

Both wearing Elie Saab, Sara Sampaio and Hailey Baldwin both arrived in dark, sultry looks at the festival.

Finally, in a dazzling Prada gown, Irina Shyak shines on the amfAR red carpet in Cannes.

At the end of the festival, all of the films debuted are awarded based on their merit. Critically acclaimed and coming to the United States within the next month are Bong Joon-ho’s Okja and Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled. Other award-winning movies to keep an eye out for are The Florida Project, Happy End, I Am Not a Witch, Wonderstruck, Loveless, The Square and You Were Never Really Here.
