Young, Wild, and Free: 5 Things Every College Student MUST Do This Summer

The school year is over and just in time because you’re not sure if you could sit through another one of those two-hour lectures without going insane. The age-old question of “what are you doing this summer?” has been asked to you at least a thousand times already, and to be honest… you have no idea what you’re doing this summer. Until now. Spice up your summer by incorporating all five of these fun ideas into your schedule.

Plan a Beach Day with a Group of Friends. There’s nothing better than having some fun in the sun with a few of your closest friends. With the sand between your toes, music blaring, and the debut of your newest swim suit purchase, you’re guaranteed to make some memories in the summer heat. Keep in mind that high leg silhouettes, revealing fabrics, and one piece swim suits are super trendy this summer. Take a risk and have some fun with your swimwear this year. Who knows, maybe you’ll even catch the eye of the lifeguard on duty!

Take a Road Trip. Nothing shouts summer more than driving with the windows down, breeze blowing through your hair, and the freedom of an open road in front of you. Road trips are one of the best ways to connect with friends and experience the world around you. Considering it’s no secret that college can leave a person flat-out broke, inexpensive, trendy destinations such as Colorado, Tennessee, Florida, or California are perfect places to explore. Hop in the car, turn on your summer Spotify station and get going!

Go for a Run Through Nature. If running isn’t your thing, I can relate…it’s not mine either, but taking a walk through nature will suffice! Staying both active and healthy is no longer just a lifestyle but rather one of the hottest trends in clothing, food, and exercise. With athleisure thriving, it won’t be difficult to look your best this summer while staying active. As the flowers are blooming, the sun sitting high in the sky, and the smell of freshly cut grass brushing past your nose, it’s the perfect setting to be one with nature. Who knew sweating could be so trendy!

Plan an Ice Cream Date. Ice cream is the universal food for summertime, and therefore, is a “must” on anyone’s summer agenda. No, a date does not mean you need to have a significant other. Go out with the girls for a sweet treat! Some of the hottest places to get ice cream in the U.S. include: Harborwalk Scoops and Bites Ice Cream (Punta Gorda, Florida), Bellvale Farms Creamery (Warwick, New York), Dietsch Brothers Inc. (Findlay, Ohio), and McConell’s Fine Ice Cream (Santa Barbara, California). Be sure to post a pic of your sweet treat on your Instagram or VSCO. What’s the point of getting ice cream if your followers can’t live through your trendy food post??

Go to a Music Festival. Going to a music festival will make you feel just like the celebs this summer. Festivals are something that everyone should experience at least once in their life, so if you’ve yet to experience it, your time has come! Hit up your local festival this summer decked out in all the latest trends. Chokers are a must as well as off the shoulder tops. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, try out the wild hair color or body glitter trends. Coachella and Lollapalooza are calling your name, so grab your friends and get going. Who knows, maybe you’ll run into Kylie Jenner and become BFFS. The possibilities are endless!
