MET Gala showcases high fashion

It’s considered fashion’s biggest night by many in the industry. No, I’m not talking about the Oscars.  It’s the annual MET Gala, a fundraising ball to benefit the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Exhibit.  The first Monday in May is slated for this yearly event, which features high fashion and the chance for celebrities to really pull out all the stops.  The more outrageous, artistic, or risky, the better.  And this year was no exception.  Here’s a round up of some of the looks that are getting the most attention this time around.

Never one to shy away from extreme fashion statements, Rihanna went above and beyond with her choice this year.
Chair of the gala, Anna Wintour stayed true to her signature style: classic and chic.
Priyanka Chopra rocked the outerwear trend with her trench coat-inspired dress.
Lena Dunham pumped up the volume with this ball gown silhouette, but didn’t let it go too “sweet” – showing off her arm tattoo.
Sticking with the trend of “less is more,” Kendall Jenner left little to the imagination, but still looked flawless.
One of the most talked about couples on the carpet was Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez. She stood out in this baby blue number, when so many other celebs opted for more neutral tones.
Blake Lively can do no wrong when it comes to fashion. And the fact that she doesn’t work with a stylist is even more impressive. Stunning!
Beloved couple Chrissy Teigan and John Legend color coordinated in their black and white ensembles.
