The Cinderella Project is making prom dreams come true!

What is that? What do you guys do exactly? How do I donate? Does it have to be dry cleaned? Because it’s not dry cleaned. When is your prom dress thing, anyway? Oh and where is it? These are just a few of the questions we have found ourselves answering in the months and weeks leading up to our event.

The Cinderella Project prom dress giveaway is exactly that – a prom dress giveaway! My team and I are the “brains” behind the Cinderella Project. The dress sorting, phone call slanging chicks behind the scenes making it all come together. But, we are nothing without our gracious Fairy Godmothers who have donated nearly 800 dresses, shoes, clutches, and jewelry – FREE – to serve the youth of our community! This year will be our second annual event, as in years past the event was run under its own name by Sue Heuvel, the ultimate Fairy Godmother!

Now for the nitty gritty! The grand event will be held on Sunday, March 19th and again on Sunday, March 26th from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM at Bourbon Barrel (1213 State Street in Erie). Admission is free. Yes, FREE! Thanks to our sponsors, we also have TONS of raffle baskets, gift certificates, beauty products, and other various giveaways for our guests to enter to win. Proceeds raised from selling raffle tickets will benefit Dress for Success Erie, whom we’ve partnered with this year.

Interested in donating? Dresses need not be dry cleaned, though it is a kind gesture. We take any and all styles: long, short, stained, or torn; beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right? Between the hours of 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM, Wednesday through Saturday, dresses can be handed off to any of the lovely staff members at Bourbon Barrel and they’ll see that your items get the attention they deserve. All items are stored hanging up in garment bags until the date of the event.

Moving forward: Dresses, shoes, and accessories can be donated all year round. I repeat, all year…as in never stops! Spring cleaning? Have the winter blues? Boost your mood by ridding your space of those poofy dresses from Prom 2005 (really aging myself) or that bridesmaid dress you’ll never actually shorten and wear again (you know who you are).
Interested in donating your time or have a rad idea? Please contact one of us, we’d be more than happy to put you and your Grandma Nene to work! How can you find us? It’s 2017 – we’re everywhere! Facebook, Instagram, Gmail…We’re hip to that stuff. Look for our signature red dress logo!
